The world is ordered in descending strata: the waters above rest beyond the firmament; sun, moon and stars keep their appointed courses beneath the vault; the inhabited Earth stands above Sheol; and beneath it all lie the primordial waters of the Great Deep, with Leviathan moving through the darkness.
Rendered in aged indigo, antique gold, parchment and muted ochre, the plate draws on the visual language of old theological diagrams and sacred cosmographies without reproducing any single historical source. The composition is deliberately spare: named realms, architectural divisions, and the structure of creation as written.
