Gleason's 1892 Flat Earth Map Poster with Wood Hanger

from $35.68
An archival scan of Gleason's 1892 New Standard Map of the World, reproduced as a matte hanging poster with the original marks, aging and annotations intact. This edition preserves the character of the surviving source rather than presenting a cleaned reconstruction. The circular polar map remains surrounded by its red longitude and time scale, solstice diagrams and period typography, while handwritten notations, collection stamps, paper wear and other traces of the physical document remain visible across the sheet. A small paper slip visible over the Russia and Europe region is also preserved in the original scan and is therefore reproduced as part of the printed image. It is not a separate piece attached to the finished poster. The result feels less like a newly printed map and more like a chart drawn directly from an old geographic archive — the document with its history still attached. • Paper: 170 gsm / 65 lb • Thickness: 0.19 mm / 7.5 mil • Finish: Smooth matte, uncoated • Hanger: Durable magnetic pine wood rails • Display: Magnetic rails hold the print without piercing the paper • Materials: FSC-certified paper and wood, or equivalent certified materials • Use: Intended for indoor display • Source treatment: Reproduced from an archival scan with the document's visible markings, aging, stamps and paper slip retained Not restored. Preserved as found.
